Disodium EDTA

Synonyms- Versene NA,Disodium EDTA, Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, Dissolvine NA, Sequestrene ,Trilon BD

Chelates bind together ions that interfere with the effectiveness of the product they are added to. In shampoos and personal care products, metal ions will lessen foam thereby making the product (shampoo) not as effective. Chelates also make the preservative sysytem of the product more effective. And they help preven soap scum too. Used to control metal ions across a very broad pH range. Whether used in personal care products, or other applications, chelates improve product stability, and offer enhancements in performance areas like better rinsability, foaming, and can help extend shelf life of packaged products.

Disodium EDTA is typically used in neutral to mildly acidic products, like most creams and lotions and neutral pH liquid soaps and shampoos.

Typically use rate of 0.2% in formulations with a neutral to slightly acidic pH. In personal care products, these agents improve effectiveness, stability, hard water performance, rinsability, and shelf life of formulations.

Chelating agents effectively prevent chalking, rancidity, and metal-catalyzed discoloration in formulations. Additional quantities of chelating agent may also improve foaming, soaping action, and the "feel" of the soap at normal bathing temperatures.

Disodium EDTA is easy to use and is added to emulsions in the water phase at the typical use level of 0.02%-0.2% .

It is very cost effective - just a few of the extra benefits are: EDTA helps prolong shelf life and helps your product work in hard water.

EDTA is a good addition to soaps, hair products, creams and lotions, detergents, and hard surface cleaners.
