Sodium Alginate

Sodium Alginate is a natural product made from a purified carbohydrate extracted from a particular brown seaweed that grows in cold water regions, like in the North Atlantic.

Sodium Alginate has several unique uses in some unique bath and body products because it is cold  water soluble and can be easily blended with strong agitation. It is a gelling agent and a thickener, and can easily help a formulator  create durable resilient gel without the need for heat. Sodium Alginate can help formulators create a jelly like substance in water when their bath products contact water.

Another useful benefit in many applications is that sodium alginate creates foam since it is a particular type of carbohydrate.

Sodium Alginate is often used in the food industry to increase thickness and viscosity and is used as an effective emulsifier. Also effective at creating spheres with a liquid get center and a gel membrane.

Sodium Alginate also finds many other important uses: In the dyeing industry for dyeing fabrics and textiles, as a "printing paste." It is reported that printing paste made of sodium alginate has good stability, and it can produce thin coatings in printing processes helps yield.
